Fishing
Look for a shadow in the water like that of a carp. Unlike carp, sunfish are not as common. Generally, there will be no problem catching it, but you may not see the bait.

Population: on the rise!
Normal, common fish are a very valuable resource. Everything is part of the same great chain of life. - Socrates.
Wild world
The sunfish is a very nutritious and tasty white fish, exquisite! Although I only recommend the good size specimens and ignore the fry. - Socrates.
City Folk/Let's Go to the City
Uuhu, the sunfish, the fishermen's nightmare ... Once it establishes itself in an area, it kills many of the native species. But with that little face, no one would say that this little fish could have bad intentions ... - Socrates.
New Leaf
These fish have barbs on their dorsal fins to protect themselves from predators and other threats. The survival rate of their fry is well above that of other species. This is because the males protect them along with the eggs when they are in the nest. Also note that they usually choose places with many plants to hide among. - Museum panel.
New Horizons
Sunfish are very common. Maybe too common, depending on what region you are in. They eat whatever fits in their mouths and adapt to a wide variety of environments. In some regions the sunfish is a pest that leaves nothing to catch except itself! But ... if you look at those little eyes of his, you realize that he is not doing it with bad intentions. - Socrates.

Extra information
The name of the genus (Lepomis) has Greek origin, and that of the species has Latin origin, gibbosus comes from gibba, which means hump, due to the obvious hump it presents.
It normally occupies small lakes, ponds and shallow areas of large lakes and slow-flowing rivers; in general it prefers clear water areas with abundant vegetation, occupying any type of substrate.
It is a fish of extraordinary resistance, capable of acclimatizing to different qualities of water, as well as warmer temperatures than in its waters of origin, which is why it colonizes the area where it is artificially introduced, causing damage to the local fauna.
It was introduced in the Iberian Peninsula for the first time in 1910-1913 in the Banyoles Lake (Catalonia, Gerona province), and in the Guadiana basin at the end of the seventies. It is currently distributed throughout the Spanish basins.
