This article should not be confused with Dulce, the bear cub neighbor, or with the normal personality, named as sweet in the first editions of the official Animal Crossing: New Horizons guide in Spanish.

The personality sweet (also known as "familiar") is a female personality introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, being similar to the Grumpy. Upon starting in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, each player will have a sweet neighbor along with an athletic neighbor.

In total, there are 24 sweet neighbors; five of them that appeared before New Leaf had a different personality. Although all the sweet neighbors are female, other neighbors can sometimes refer to them using male pronouns.

Features

Behavior

Sweet neighbors are often described as stubborn, rude, and easily offended at first glance, similarly to grumpy neighbors, who also have hostile behavior. Sweet neighbors also speak hoarsely and with an accent, similar to the deep voices that grumpy neighbors use, in reference to their "tough" attitudes. As a result, they are seen as some kind of tomboy, occasionally talking about enjoying fights and expressing interest in participating in "turf wars." However, despite this violent exterior, the sweet neighbors are kind and sympathetic at heart, as they can act like an older sister when they become friends as "compis".

It's easy to get a feel for them, as developing friendships with sweet neighbors is simple due to their caring and protective nature. They will treat the player with respect and even offer to fight anyone who causes the player problems. Some municipal projects can only be suggested by sweet neighbors, like the wooden bench.

In New Leaf the sweet neighbors usually wake up at 11:00 and go to sleep at 03:00. In New Horizons they wake up at 09:30 and go to sleep at 03:00.

In Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer they are given an even more outcast personality, they are no longer as affectionate as they used to be. They are, on the contrary, the most sarcastic, direct and mischievous of the neighbors. They like to have a lot of fun and get bored easily when things are quiet, and they seem to always be looking for thrills and difficult experiences. They tend to tease the player (and the other NPCs) very often and hate genuine compliments.

Relationships

The sweet neighbors, when they befriend the player, give him fighting tips and teach him ways to relax. These girls are tough, but they still care deeply about their appearance. They have a tendency to stay up very late at night. When they become friends, they will give the player medicine if he is stung by bees. The sweet neighbors are very attentive to the player.

Sweet neighbors find it easy to get along with most neighbors. Lazy neighbors, normal and cheerful neighbors will look up to sweet neighbors and see them as a big sister, and they often have common interests. Athletic neighbors will also admire how stiff and tough they are, which will allow them to get along as well. Sweet neighbors will also express admiration for snobs and smug ones for their posh lifestyle, but they can conflict with them if the wrong things are said. Grumpy neighbors will clash directly with sweet neighbors, as both personalities have strong opinions. However, if their opinions coincide, sweet neighbors can become close friends with a grumpy neighbor because they both have hostile personalities.
