General description
The task bar is visible to both Crewmen and Imposters and is displayed above the player's task list. When the taskbar is full, the Crewmembers win the game. To fill the task bar, Crewmembers must complete their tasks. If a task has multiple stages, Crewmates must finish all stages before the progress of the taskbar increases. For example, in Upload data, when a player downloads data in the first task stage, the taskbar does not fill up. However, when a player uploads data in the last stage of the task, the taskbar will fill up.
Because imposters cannot complete tasks, they cannot fill the taskbar. However, imposters can pretend to complete a task by staying where a task would normally be and waiting for the taskbar to come up. Crewmen can be tricked into thinking that The Deceiver completed a task. Faking a task is easier to perform when taskbar updates are set during emergency meetings or never in game options, because imposters don't have to wait for the taskbar to increase in those cases.
When and how the taskbar is updated can be changed in the options. By default, the progress of the taskbar will always update, but it can also be set to update only during emergency meetings caused by the emergency button or a report, or it can be set not to update at all , which means that it will not be present on the players' screens.
Curiosities
- In Polus, when the taskbar is set to never refresh and the vision is high enough, players can stand in a specific spot next to the Specimen Room and can see other players entering and exiting the Office. This does not work when the taskbar is on screen as it obscures the view.
