Un Username is a name that a player selects. Starting October 22, 2013, users can change their username to 1000 Robux. Many names tend to follow popular trends, such as numbers, Xx [Username] xX, and so on.

Some Usernames that have underscores and spaces (for example, native_thugs14). This was achieved by creating accounts with a real name and then sending an email with Roblox support as the parent and requesting a name change. An example of this can be seen in JJ's profile; an account created in 2012.

Changing user names

Originally, users could only change their names due to privacy concerns (such as the username being a player's full name) or at the request of the moderation team due to the name violating the Roblox Terms of Service. If a user does not provide an alternate name, the username will be changed to [Content Deleted] for user names changed before 2014 or [Content Deleted user ID] for names changed after 2014.

A feature released on October 22, 2013 allowed users to voluntarily change their name for a fee of 1000 Robux. All user names that are changed must meet all user requirements and limitations.

"Namesniping"

Namesniping is an activity that people do to find rare or lucky names that only previous people could get. For example, ROBLOX and Player are examples of name names. Most accounts are made for the purpose of taking the name before someone else; these accounts are often abandoned. However, some people, like 1337, trucks, Bob, pill, troller, ton, and blazee are active within the Roblox community. The first player entered 1 week and 3 days after the arrival of DynaBlocks.

Username trends

Besides name removal, people often use username trending to create a unique name for themselves and still get to the idea of adding names or adding initials before a name. Some username trends go to the idea of online dating.

Username restrictions

Usernames cannot:

Have inappropriate phrases in them.
Have spaces.
Have 2 or more underscores.
Be more than 20 characters (only achievable through Xbox / iOS related issues).
Have less than 3 characters.
Be the same as someone else's username.
Have special characters in them.
Be a name of a user who was banned. example: jaredvaldezv4, hitler, 111, etc.
Contain underscores as the first or last character of the username.

Certain YouTubers.
Pets.
Family.

Usernames with +21 characters

On Roblox, it is possible to have usernames with 21 or more letters using glitches. These usernames are mostly found in Xbox profiles or in profiles created for testing purposes by Roblox.

The most notable example of this was possible in 2011. When Roblox was first released on iOS devices, where the character limit could be exceeded. While exactly how it was modified is unknown, it allowed users to register accounts with up to 50 characters instead of 20. The exploit finally leaked on the forums after about a month, where it was later patched.

Curiosities

During the early stages of ROBLOX, usernames could have spaces, like John Doe and Jane Doe, although this feature was removed later during 2007 because people could impersonate users by putting a space, and people would put their names. Blanks. real names as your username
In December 2016, there was an "exploit" where people could create a new account that had the same name, a different user, "David" and "David" as an example, and people also used this to create accounts from 2 letters, such as "pi" and "hi" (hello). This was patched in the same month it was founded and all the users that were created with the exploit were removed.

Contrary to popular belief, 51 character usernames do not exist. The most possible characters were 50.
3-letter usernames were sold out on September 14, 2019.
4-letter usernames were sold out on July 2, 2020. If a username generator gives you a 4-letter username, it is most likely a username that Roblox considers "inappropriate" and not allowed.
There are groups on Roblox that will intentionally change your username to a format (see Username Trends above) to be more popular.
