Xemnas, "The Great Mentor", is Xehanort's incorporeal born from Terra-Xehanort, number I within Organization XIII and ruler of The Non-existent World. He is the main antagonist in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts II, and one of the main antagonists in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.

As discoverer of the Nobodies, Xemnas wields the power of Nothingness, controlling the Sorcerers. As the superior, Xemnas is the first founding member of Organization XIII, thus having all the Nobodies under his control, having been able to manipulate the actions of Roxas, Xion, and ultimately Sora, having lost their two most important pickers. His strength has been such that even characters like Marluxia did not dare to face him, since he had to turn to Sora to try to conspire against him.

Although his real name is Xehanort, he uses an anagram of his former mentor, Ansem the Wise, because Xehanort, before he lost his heart and body, stole his master's name.

A battle against him appears in Hollow Bastion. He is hooded and is known as the mystery man. He is the enemy with the most life in this game and also the most difficult to public opinion.

Organization XIII # I is the group leader. Xemnas is Xehanort's Nobody, an apprentice of Ansem.

He was using Sora and his Keyblade to gather the freed hearts of the Heartless and culminate Kingdom Hearts.

Xehanort's Nobody. He was once the leader of Organization XIII. He tried to create Kingdom Hearts from people's hearts, but Sora got in the way and killed him.

Appearance

Xemnas is a tall, stocky man with smooth features. He has long silver hair, brown skin, and yellow eyes characteristic of people consumed by darkness. He bears a great resemblance to Terra, which was his original self. He wears the organization's black raincoat with the Saïx and Xaldin variant: long and wide sleeves that cover a little more of the hands.

In his final form, his suit turns white with black details and stripes, as a symbol of balance between light and dark, and highlighting that he is in limbo of both.

Personality

Xemnas is serious, calm, powerful and very intelligent. He seems to know at all times what his subordinates are doing behind his back and what his next action will be as well as that of his enemies, since he did not take long to predict the betrayal of Marluxia and Larxene, and ordered Axel to exterminate them. All the members have great respect for him and many of them fear him. He does not care about anything or anyone, he is only interested in achieving his goal and he does not care about the means or sacrifices he has to make for it. Xemnas only trusts a few members of the organization fully and these are: Xigbar, Zexión (until the moment of his murder) and Saïx, who is the one with whom he deepens his plans and ideas the most. He has a predilection for dramatic language and can be seen in many scenes in the game displaying his poetic ability to do so.

Gameplay

In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Xemnas is playable in Mission Mode, although it can be more complicated to handle than others, since despite having two blades, it causes irregular damage and some very poor, if it is not equipped well, it is it can die in a few seconds, since it does not have great defense. At its limit, it can launch its blades as if they were laser beams, become immune to a force field that surrounds it and also cause damage faster (it also increases its speed), instead of walking it is always floating, thus moving throughout the scenario, it is better to attack with jumps, since he takes more damage by throwing his two swords and not just attacking with one.

Arms

Xemnas uses "Air Blades" (エアリアルブレード Eariaru Burēido, Lit. "Air Blade"), and his most commonly used Air Blades and by default is called "Interdiction".

The Blades of Air are solidified beams of Nothingness, acting according to Xemnas will, allowing him to hold them without a handle or handle. He can summon or fire them at will, and he uses them primarily as a blunt weapon.

Air Blades can also be used as projectiles and can be suspended in the air around a target before landing on it.

Xemnas' prank weapon is Paipay. As a desperate attack, Xemnas can surround his enemy in the dark and an incredible amount of blades of Air on fire fall at the enemy. Unknown handles weapons very similar to these.

The Air Blades in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days vary in shape and appearance, and also their name in a similar way to the keychains of the protagonists in previous editions. Specifically, the Blades of Air are named after negative emotions, or terms related to authority.

Curiosities

Xemnas is the disembodied half of Xehanort and half of Terra.
He is the only member whose title does not have an official English translation. The opening theme for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days only lists the members' titles in the Japanese version. His title is only mentioned there, and it is literally translated as "El Superior del Intermedio".
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Ultimania: "Xemnas gives the names of the Organization members with an X in them. This has something to do with Master Xehanort's interest in the X-Blade."
The meaning of the word "ethereal" is that it belongs to nowhere in reference to its element nothingness.
Xemnas has never deliberately wielded a Keyblade to date (despite being disembodied from 2 Chosen of the Keyblade). In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, he and Xigbar said that all members of Organization XIII had always had a heart, and that when they lost them their bodies regenerated them. Xemnas apparently never used a keyblade deliberately, as his true goal was not a Kingdom Hearts for himself, but to get the 13 dark containers for all parts of Xehanort's heart, to this end the ancient Organization emerged, revealing a false plan to all its members (except Xigbar and later Saïx), and among the three they were discarding candidates. However, to keep the cover, they needed a chosen keyblade that would also function as a container (Roxas did not work because of his rebellion), since if Xemnas or even Xigbar or Saïx presented Keyblades, the rest of the members would not see it useful to continue recruiting more members for Organization XIII.
In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days when Roxas is knocked unconscious, Xemnas says "So sleep has taken over you again", referring to Ventus sleeping in the Chamber of Awakening.
His name without the X is Ansem, however, he was not Ansem's incorporeal, if not Xehanort, yet he took the name like Xehanort: Ansem (Xemnas) (Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness).
Although his name is Xemnas, he did not take into account that he was also part of Terra's Nobody (as stated in the first trivia post), this is because it is believed that Xemnas does not know that he is also part of Terra.
When defeating him in his last form in Kingdom Hearts II he says: "No ... Five years for nothing ...", which indicates the moment in which he became incorporeal and took command of the organization. This makes it easier to calculate the ages of most members of the organization (up to Axel) and when Ansem the Wise was sent to the Realm of Darkness.
He is, perhaps, the character with the most themes in the entire saga, since he has 4 in Kingdom Hearts II and another in Kingdom Hearts 3D. In order they are: Dissappeared ([KHFM] and first battle [KHII]), Darkness of the Unknown I, II and III (in battles [KHII]) and L´Oscuritá dell Ignoto [KH3D], followed by Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness with 4.
Despite the fact that at the time he was the leader of Organization XIII, his rank in the new Organization seems to be somewhat lower as he obeys Xigbar's orders without any complaint.
