Apex Legends crossplay to go live next week via open beta

Last July Electronic Arts promised that sooner or later Apex Legends would have the crossplay function so that players could get together with those from other platforms, regardless of where each player is playing from. This will be possible from next week, exactly from the October 6 by means of a open beta.

What was one of the most demanded functions by the community will finally be available in a few days for all those who play in PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Origin. By default this option will be activated as soon as it takes effect, although anyone who does not agree with it can deactivate it without any problem.

When forming a group of friends, it will be indicated with a symbol from where is each connected. However, there are some details to take into account, such as the fact that by default console players will only cross paths with others who are also connected from a console and those of PC will only see the faces between them.

This measure is intended to prevent those with a keyboard and mouse have an advantage versus someone using a joystick. However, if someone from PS4 or Xbox One invites a PC friend their group, then they will go on to face those who play in the computer version. This ensures that groups are divided unless someone dares to risk challenging compatible users.

On the other hand, disabling crossplay will mean that when searching for a game you will only find those who have also removed this option, which can lead to significantly increased waiting times, hence Respawn Entertainment recommends leaving the function on by default and not touching it.

Also, all this will come hand in hand together with the event Aftermarket Collection which will add a new game mode called Flashpoint that can only be played temporarily. There will be no healing objects anywhere, so you will have to resort to areas called Flash Points to recharge the shields and health points. And they will not be missing either new cosmetic items that can be obtained until October 20.
