Kairi (カイリ Kairi) is one of the main characters in the Kingdom Hearts saga. Designed by Tetsuya Nomura, Kairi is one of the original characters in the series. She is the complete being of Naminé and is one of the seven Princesses of the Heart. Kairi was born in Radiant Garden and currently lives in the Destiny Islands with her two best friends: Sora and Riku.

Kingdom Hearts

First entry
Isleña. Kairi, Sora, and Riku are the best of friends. They built a raft to navigate and see new worlds. The three of them were separated when a mysterious force struck the Destiny Islands. This is how Sora's search for Kairi begins.

Kairi, Sora and Riku always hung together. When the Island faded, Kairi lost her heart. It turned out that he was hiding inside Sora. As one of the princesses with the power to open the secret keyhole, Kairi restores Sora's heart when he became a Heartless.

Kingdom Hearts II

Old friend of Riku and Sora, and one of the Seven Princesses who have ties to the Keys and Locks. Not long ago, when she was lost in the dark, Riku and Sora both tried to save her, each in their own way.

Thanks to them, Kairi was able to return to the islands, her home, but her memories of Sora were gone, and she soon stopped visiting the islands, where they had once played.

Kairi is a Princess of Heart, and the forces of darkness tried to bend the pure light within her for sinister purposes, for a long time, she, Sora, and Riku parted ways. After a long journey, however, they were brought back together, their lives finally back to normal.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

Sora and Riku's childhood friend. As one of the seven princesses, she became a target of the forces of darkness, but luckily Sora and Riku came to the rescue. She is waiting in the Destiny Islands for her safe return.

Personality

Kairi is a loving, optimistic, determined and friendly girl. She has a strong sense of justice and goes out of her way to help everyone. Kairi is also very charismatic, quickly forming friendships with Hayner, Pence, and Olette in Twilight Town, before being kidnapped by Axel.

In contrast to Sora and Riku, who were intrigued by not knowing about Kairi's hometown, she took it in stride and was able to see the positives of living in the Destiny Islands. She is faithful and stubborn, and can be quite stubborn at times. In the first Kingdom Hearts, Kairi, being younger, shows a more relaxed and carefree demeanor, even behaving playfully at times.

In the following current games, Kairi, being older and taking into account the situations in which her friends are involved, shows a calmer and more responsible attitude, but without losing her friendly attitude.

Kairi has a strong bond with her best friends, Sora and Riku, being able to do anything for them, as well as having a long friendship with them. Kairi is closest to Sora, and both have strong feelings for each other, with Kairi being proclaimed the most special thing for Sora in many games in the series and by different characters.

Kairi apparently has a taste for mystical things, like amulets and fate. During Kingdom Hearts, Kairi makes an amulet for her friends, believing that the three of them will always be together. In Kingdom Hearts II Kairi sends a letter to the sea in a bottle, believing that it will reach Sora.

Appearance

Kairi usually has dark red hair, violet-blue eyes, a pale complexion, and a necklace with a silver cord that is only absent when she wears her school uniform. Kairi is short in stature, being slightly shorter than Sora (who is also short in stature) and most of her official arts and designs depict her wearing pink and purple skirts or dresses, and tank tops that expose her arms. . Kairi's haircuts are based on the haircuts of Utada Hikaru (Famous Japanese singer, who is the performer of the main musical themes of the saga) throughout the years.

During the events of Kingdom Hearts, she wears a white T-shirt and inside a black T-shirt, which exposes the navel a little, purple cycling shorts under a purple skirt with a blue belt, white are her

slip-on shoes with purple tops. She also has a black choker, a yellow bracelet, as well as a purple bracelet on her upper left arm and a pair of bracelets on her right arm on her wrist. In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep we are shown the design of Kairi as a little girl, wearing a white dress with blue and pink decorations. From this game Kairi receives her amulet around her neck, which is a kind of oval pendant hung by a fine silver cord. This pendant is "blessed" by Aqua saying that a light will protect her when she is in danger, a situation that occurs when Kairi in Kingdom Hearts is attached to Sora's heart for a moment. Most likely, this amulet is made from a seashell.

In Kingdom Hearts III, Kairi wears a pink and black dress, black ruffles on one side of her skirt and plaid on the other, with thick belted boots. His hair is shorter and similar to Xion's. In the official arts of Kingdom Hearts III Kairi looks much older.

Etymology

Its name is derived from the Japanese word for "sea" (海, Kai), although its full name is homophone with the word "nautical mile" (海里, Kairi).

Curiosities

Kairi is the young woman who appears in the final scene of Kingdom Hearts, when she goes out to the beach of the Destiny Islands seeing a falling star fall, Another side, Another story ... (representation of the final scene of the Kingdom Hearts II game) .
- In the hidden ending Another side, another story (deep dive), Kairi can be seen momentarily appearing on the tower screens.
She is four years old in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, fourteen at the start of Kingdom Hearts, and fifteen in Kingdom Hearts II.

The Letter from Kairi that Sora reads at the end of Kingdom Hearts II, are the same words from the original trailer of the first Kingdom Hearts.
The Kingdom Hearts trio are named after the 3 primary elements of nature (common in Japanese culture): Sora means "Sky", Riku means "Earth" and Kairi means "Ocean". This can be related to the main characters in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, where their Latin names are translated: Ventus means "Wind", Terra means "Earth" and Aqua means "Water". This shows us a correlation between the characters and their personalities respectively.
In the first Kingdom Hearts, at the beginning of the story when Kairi asks us to gather materials for the raft in the two days, if we give her all without asking her once, she will give us one Ultra Potion per day.
If we think that Kingdom Hearts belongs to both Square Enix and Disney Interactive Studios, in a sense Kairi could be considered a Disney Princess.
If we only count the events of the first Kingdom Hearts, it is ironic that Kairi created the charms for her friends in the belief that it would keep the three of them together, when in the end the three end up apart.
