La Keyblade χ (χ-blade, χ ブレード Kīburēdo?) is a legendary Keyblade that first appears in the Kingdom Hearts prequel, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. For now it only has the function of opening the door to Kingdom Hearts. The objective of Xehanort is to create it from Ventus and Vanitas, in order to open the door that connects all the worlds, showing the true Light, so that all the Masters of the Keyblade would come to fight for it, thus causing the War of the Keyblades.

History

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Through an experiment, Master Xehanort separates the Darkness from the heart of Ventus, who at that time was his apprentice, thus creating Vanitas, who would be his new disciple. Ventus being dying, he transfers him to the Destiny Islands, where he joins Sora, thus saving his heart. After invoking Ventus the Keyblade, Xehanort realizes that he is not dead, so he takes him to Master Eraqus as a disciple.

Keyblade χ was finally created when Vanitas merged with Ventus, even though their fusion and Keyblade χ were both incomplete. Ventus fought Vanitas, who carried the incomplete Keyblade χ, at his Station of Awakening. Meanwhile, Aqua and King Mickey fought Venitas, who carried a complete Keyblade χ in the Keyblade Necropolis. Thanks to the combined efforts of Ventus, Aqua and King Mickey, the Keyblade χ was destroyed at the same time as its bearer, Vanitas, at the same time weakening Ventus's heart, which would have to rejoin Sora's in order to rest.

Appearance

The Keyblade χ is made up of two crossed Kingdom Chains. With characteristics that are a bit reminiscent of the Artema Weapon, and the blade is reminiscent of the Dream Sword.

It should be noted that the Incomplete has the Artema Weapon colors from red to orange instead of blue-yellow. The blade is covered by an aura of darkness. It also seems that the incomplete one lacks some parts that make it look somehow broken or cracked.

The keychain is black and has a red heart (similar to the heartless sign but without the red line in the center) with two chains of the kingdom crossed over it. The chain starts from the two keyblades that compose it and they join in one.

Curiosities

The name χ-Blade (ki) is the most popular to refer to her.
Its incomplete form appears to be made of copper and its complete form of jade or another precious mineral.
At the moment, the only carriers it has had were Ventus and Vanitas.
In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance in its corresponding report it says that the original Keyblade χ consisted of 7 lights (the princesses) and 13 darkness.
