El Laughing Cat (Chesha Neko en japonés, Cheshire cat in English) is a character from the movie Alice in Wonderland. He was first introduced to the series in Kingdom Hearts, reappearing in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts coded, and Kingdom Hearts χ.

It is a mysterious pink cat from Wonderland that constantly teleports from one place to another. He speaks in riddles and wears his characteristic almost permanent smile on his face. He also likes to move parts of his body around in odd positions, especially his head, to see the reaction of his audience.

He is a mysterious and smiling cat who always speaks in riddles. It appears when one least expects it and disappears when it feels like it.

History

Kingdom Hearts

The Cheshire Cat helps Sora and his friends during their stay in Wonderland, guiding them not only in finding evidence of Alice's innocence, but also in finding the Conjurer. His true intentions however are not very clear, and he seems more interested in seeing how Sora dealt with challenges than seeing him succeed.

After Sora and company defeat the Conjurer, the Laughing Cat tells them that Alice is no longer in Wonderland, and has been taken by the shadows. He then leaves, disappearing into the dark.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

The Laughing Cat appears as an invention of Sora's memories in Wonderland, created by Naminé, giving him advice on how to save himself from being executed by the Queen of Hearts in his trademark riddles.

Kingdom Hearts 358 / 2 Days

Laughing Cat guides Roxas and Luxord during their quests in Wonderland through riddles. He appears frequently, and in Roxas' last encounter with him, he asks the Laughing Cat if he is a friend or an enemy, to which the cat responds, "Neither one nor the other ... or both. It is. enough of you. Once you believe, the truth and the lie are exactly the same. Let your Heart decide what is in your heart you have to trust. " In this quote, Laughing Cat alludes to Roxas' internal conflict in doing the job as part of the Organization, and his questions about Organization XIII.

Kingdom Hearts coded

Once Data Sora is in Wonderland, the Laughing Cat reappears to converse with him and Alicia, albeit made of data. Laughing Cat hints at what Data Sora should do next. He explains how the words tied to Alice's memory are scattered throughout the Wonders, and how collecting them will help restore it.

After Data Sora's last requests from Alicia, the Laughing Cat appears once again, telling Data Sora that "The funny thing about memories is that something is going to lie forgotten in his heart for ages - until one day, He remembers. But then, a moment later, the memory can drift away again the memories can sleep forever, "foreshadowing what appears to be Naminé's connection with the Royal Sora, Sora or memories of Ventus, Terra and Aqua.

The Laughing Cat appears again in the Castle of Oblivion, where you have to solve an enigma that he gives you. If you solve it, you get an idea.

Appearance

The Laughing Cat is a strange cat with a perpetual smile. His fur is striped purple and pink, a pattern that stops abruptly at his wrists and ankles. Its mouth, hands, feet and the tip of its tail are a very light pinkish color, while the hair on its head is ruffled on top (hiding its small ears) of a solid red-purple. His eyebrows, which are always raised, are black, and his eyes are yellow. Its nose is a dark pink color, and underneath are six gray whiskers, three on each side of the cat's upper lip, which are curiously outside the center of the follicles. Their hands and feet appear to have opposable thumbs, along with three other toes. Each of its short fingers has black claws.

The Laughing Cat shows a high degree of balance and dexterity, usually standing on its hind legs and occasionally on its hands. In particular, the Laughing Cat is able to make parts of its body appear and disappear at will, take its head off its shoulders and keep talking, show its smile without its body, and sometimes manages to balance on its hands, or even balance the rest of your body on your head.

Personality

Laughing Cat is definitely a strange character, as he speaks in code and often confuses the people who speak to him. Even Roxas comments on this by saying, "That cat is a question mark walking." He often helps characters, albeit indirectly, by showing their neutral alignment. The fact that he speaks in riddles and knows almost everything and nothing in Wonderland proves that he is very smart. In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, he admitted that he is "crazy".

The puzzling personality of the Laughing Cat is why he is not considered an ally or an enemy, confusing many characters including villains related to Maleficent or of another nature, since in the Kingdom Hearts manga it is mentioned that they offered him a place in their alliance, an offer that the cat rejected, leaving the group upset and wondering if they should eliminate him. However, this shows that the Laughing Cat is more of a friend than an enemy of Sora and his friends.

She first appeared in the 1951 Disney film Alice in Wonderland, based on the eponymous book by Lewis Carroll. The Laughing Cat was one of the first characters to really care about Alice's problems instead of taking advantage of them for fun, although in a rather sneaky way it seemed to confuse her or send her into danger, although sending Alice before the Queen of Hearts was which finally brought her home.

The Laughing Cat had the strange habit of appearing and disappearing at will, playing with the elements of his body, making them disappear and singing strange phrases alluding to the Galimatazo poem from the original novel. He speaks in code and riddles of great importance that to the ears of others does not make sense.

Curiosities

In the Kingdom Hearts manga, the Council of Villains mentions that the Laughing Cat rejected their invitation to join them. This shows the way it is to remain neutral in the conflict.
