Once a year, in a random week between January and February, Tortimer will go on vacation and ask the Player to enter the lighthouse and turn it on every night for seven days in a row between 18:00 PM and 22:00 PM. If you comply with this, Tortimer will reward you with a Mini-Lighthouse.

The lighthouse reappears in Animal Crossing: New Leaf as a Municipal Project. To unlock it, a neighbor of any personality must ask for it. Its cost is 372.000 Berries. In this game the appearance of the lighthouse changes considerably with respect to the previous games.

Unlocked with Neighbor Ready. In this game you can turn the lighthouse on and off by pressing . The lighthouse is identical to the one in New Leaf.

In New Horizons, the lighthouse becomes a piece of furniture that can be placed anywhere on the island, instead of being a fixed building or municipal project. The appearance of the lighthouse undergoes a great change, being the one that differs the most from the rest of the games. It is now yellow, with a more simplistic design, and with a structure similar to that of New Leaf. The grayish base is similar to that of Population: increasing !, but somewhat thinner.
