Road to dawn (ウ ェ イ ト ゥ ザ ド ー ン Wei tu za Dōn?) Is Riku's default Keyblade, and appears in Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Like Sora's Keyblade, it is a Keyblade from the Realm of Light. Its form is based on the Soul Eater, which uses it as an intermediary, and its name and design reflect Riku's nature as a being halfway between Light and Dark.
Road to Dawn was first seen in Kingdom Hearts II, when Riku arrives in The World Without Existing to rescue Naminé and Kairi from Saïx. Although technically a different weapon than the Soul Eater, Riku still refers to it by its previous name.
Riku can be equipped with this Keyblade during Mission Mode, in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.
Design
Road to Dawn looks a lot like the Soul Eater sword, but with several differences. The hilt is composed of a wing similar to that of an angel and that of a demon, similar to those of the Promised and Distant Memories keys, respectively. Additionally, a gray angel wing has been added to the top of the original Devora Almas blade acting as the teeth of the key. Its symbol is the emblem of the Heartless, but without the spike bars that cross it.
Its name is derived from the final scene of Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, Reverse / Rebirth version, in which Riku declares that he does not take the path of Light nor that of Darkness, but the "Path to Dawn".
